Hello! I am the American Planning Association (APA) Student Representative. My role is to serve as a liaison between APA and UCI MURP’s. APA is a wonderful resource that provides monthly luncheons, fun events and professional development opportunities for urban planners.
I was born and raised in California’s Central Valley in a small town called Porterville. Then moved to Long Beach more than 5 years ago to continue my education at Cal State Long Beach and graduated with my undergraduate degree in Political Science in 2013. After graduation, I began working for elected representatives both at the state and local levels. I now live in Costa Mesa working as a Research Intern for The Concord Group, a real estate consulting firm. I have also interned for the City of Huntington Beach. On my spare time I enjoy hiking, going to the beach, reading, wine tasting and cooking.
My interest in Urban Planning stems from living in several vastly different environments from rural to urban. I enjoyed my urban politics course in college and thought I would end up in an environmental field someday. However, after working for the First District in Long Beach, I became more aware of how much real estate, housing and our built environment effects us on the day to day level. My interest in the MURP program are to explore community development, real estate, land use, urban design and water resources.
